Kampot wasn't always a peaceful river town.
A century ago, it sat on the remote edge of the French Empire. Cambodians rose up against colonial rule. Traders and the occasional pirate passed through its port, and local spirits guarded the hills, while the French tried to tame it all.
On our sunset tour, we'll walk along the river and through Old Town as your guide tells you about Kampot's myths, legends and history. You'll hear about the scars left by decades of war, the story of Bokor Mountain, and meet the spirits that still watch over the land.

They hide in little shrines around town. Meet the spirits, learn their names, and discover their place in Cambodian Buddhism.
Buildings with scars
Learn about the old colonial buildings and shophouses, the marks they still carry, and some of their secrets.
Sunset along the river
Walk along the riverfront at sunset, past the street vendors, and hear about Kampot's early days as a remote trading port, when pirates passed through its waters.
